The end of this May (2016) witnessed the retirement of Nicholas John Leighton, one of the leading personalities of the Cayman captive management industry and Managing Director of Atlas Insurance Management since 2006. He began his insurance management career in Guernsey with Willis prior to his first spell in the Cayman Islands in the early 1990’s before returning to Guernsey with Aon becoming Director of “White Rock” the world’s first rent-a-captive to convert to a cell captive structure. Returning to Cayman in the early 2000’s, Nick pioneered the rise of the Atlas Cayman office into a leading independent captive management company.
Nick will be remembered by those of us on the Marketing Committee back in 2010 for the idea of changing IMAC’s annual dinner event from an informal gathering to a fully-fledged black tie dinner-dance, live and silent auction extravaganza at the Ritz Carlton, resulting in more funds raised for charity and greater enjoyment for all, and which is now the premier IMAC island social event of the year.
All the best in retirement Nick, as you stroll the fairways and survey the ski slopes with Kirsten and Scruffy for company, but I won’t say goodbye rather “see you soon, mate”!
