A 30- strong Cayman Island’s delegation, will be heading to Orlando, Florida to represent the jurisdiction’s captive insurance industry at the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management annual conference (ASHRM), which takes place on the 25th through the 28th of September. Wayne Panton, the Cayman Islands Minister of Financial Services, Commerce and Environment, along with Mr. Jude Scott, CEO of Cayman Finance, in attending ASHRM.
The Cayman Islands, the world’s leading healthcare captive domicile, with a successful 40-year track record of operating in the healthcare captive industry space, continues to partner with healthcare systems to provide innovative captive centric solutions to the new, larger and more integrated and complex healthcare systems. The healthcare industry in the United States is undergoing exceptional transformation, sparked as a consequence of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Healthcare systems are merging as a result of the search for synergies and economies of scale. The inevitable consequence is that in many instances, the associated captives are also required to merge resulting in an increase in the size, capitalization and usage of the enduring captive enabling them take on new and expanded areas of risk such as non-employed physicians and employee medical stop loss risk.
IMAC Chairperson Kieran O’Mahony will be spearheading the industry delegation in Orlando. “ASHRM is an excellent conference for the Cayman Islands to be represented at. The Islands have many clients who attend each year, which gives us an opportunity to discuss in depth and hear first-hand the ever-changing “dynamic” that is US Healthcare, prior to the Cayman Captive Forum which will be held on November 29thto December 1st, this year”.
