George Town, Grand Cayman, October 14, 2022 – IMAC is proud to present our annual Scholarship to 2022’s recipients.
We are pleased to report the unprecedent number of registrations for the 2022 Cayman Captive Forum (CCF) being held from November 29th to December 1st means the 2022 CCF looks like being the most well attended ever. This is no doubt fueled by the fact we are finally able to welcome attendees back to an in-person conference for the first time since 2019.
What many attendees often fail to appreciate is that all the hard work and dedication that goes into organizing the world’s largest captive conference is done not just because of the amazing content and opportunities to connect with industry peers, but because the funds raised are ploughed back into the industry in the form of scholarship opportunities for deserving young Caymanians.
To date the IMAC Scholarship Fund has raised over $4.9 million and supported 62 young Caymanians to pursue further studies around the globe in disciplines as diverse as Business Management, Veterinary Science, Psychology, Medicine, Marketing, Computer Science and the Arts and Sciences to name just a few. These qualifications have helped to equip these young people returning to Cayman with the ability to offer valuable services to the community. It is therefore important to understand the CCF registration fees are used for much more than hosting such an acclaimed conference but also to support such a deserving cause.
In addition, special recognition should also be given to other IMAC members who contribute directly to the Scholarship Fund each year. This year we are excited to announce that Barents Re have contributed US$20,000 to the fund which is incredibly generous and is helping to fund the 2022 awards. For those unfamiliar with Barents Re they are a leading independent reinsurance group. Established in 1996, Barents Re has a well-established presence in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America which translates into more than 650 reinsurance connections in 75 countries. The company provides a wide range of niche and specialty reinsurance products to property and casualty insurers.
This year two IMAC Scholarships were awarded that went to Jayden Miller who will be studying Business Management at the University of Southampton (UK) and Jana Tibbetts who will be studying Creative Industries at Toronto Metropolitan University (Ryerson University). The fund is currently supporting 18 full-time students.
